ELLEN WAXENBERG ZOSCHAK,
RN, MPH, MS, NEA-BC
Ellen focuses on performance improvement and her projects concentrate on the improvement of hospitals through quality and fiscal transformation. Ellen specializes in hospital turnaround analyses, nursing assessments, productivity reviews and clinical resource management engagements. Ellen developed the Self-Actualization Model for the Evolution of a Nursing Department and applied the concept in assessing nursing departments throughout the United States.
Ellen received her Master’s degrees in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, and Nursing Administration from the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, she holds Bachelor degrees from California State University, Hayward in Nursing and the University of California, Berkeley in Rhetoric. She is a board-certified as a Nurse Executive—Advanced by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center and is an active member of the Association of California Nurse Leaders.
Ellen has built a significant collection of books on the subject of Nursing, both fact (e.g., the cornerstone 1st edition of Nightingale’s Notes on Nursing [1860]), and fiction (e.g., a complete collection of the Cherry Ames Nursing series).
Ellen lives in Reno, Nevada with her husband, Vic Zoschak, an antiquarian bookseller, and their two dogs, Mattie and George. Ellen has two children. Her daughter, Julie Gutstadt Otis, an elementary school teacher, lives in Lake Tahoe with her husband, Paul, and son, Aaron. Jonathan Gutstadt, a hiphop/rap singer, massage therapist, and web designer who lives in Reno, Nevada.
